Nike Ja 1, the Memphis Grizzlies star guard Ja Morant’s first signature basketball shoe, will hit retailers this spring. In addition to the Chimney colorway that Morant wore during last year’s Christmas Day game, the brand has revealed the other styles that are part of the shoe’s upcoming rollout.
The Swoosh has unveiled more Nike Ja 1 styles including the Day One, Trivia, and Scratch colorways. Nike Ja 1 was conceptualized by Nike Basketball’s senior footwear designer Ben Nethongkome, who worked closely with the Grizzlies guard over the last 18 months on the shoe. According to the brand, it aims to tell the story of Morant’s basketball journey through the upcoming colorways.
The Day One pair pays homage to those that have been there with Morant since we first embarked on his basketball journey, the Chimney iteration is inspired by one of Morant’s quotes – “We climb up the chimney, we ain’t ducking no smoke”, and the Trivia makeup celebrates the Morant family’s favorite pastime, game night. So, a Scratch colorway that references the throwback Vancouver Grizzlies uniforms.
The sneaker arrives in stores this spring for a retail price of $110.
